Ah, Greece! This work is inspired by the charming traditional fishing boats, called kaiki, of the Greek Islands. They typically have small man-made cabins that can accommodate a single fisherman, or his catch. These cabins protect them from the sweltering sun and winds. I love the little portholes!

Iraklia island, where you can find the exact boats I painted in this print, has a population of about 149 people. You can take a ferry day-trip there from Naxos, and swim in the wonderful turquoise sea. It's a stunning, peaceful location with a couple of good restaurants too! My hope is that this fine art print brings the spirit of a remote Greek island to your home.
